Helen E. Collette, 85, of Penet Square, passed away, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at her home.
Born on June 11, 1932 in Watertown, NY, she was a daughter of Pete and Alice Layo Collette. She attended Watertown schools.
A marriage to John Markanich in 1949, ended in divorce.
Helen was a waitress for a time, worked in the kitchen at the House of the Good Samaritan, made thermometers at Fachiney's and worked at Car Freshner, all in Watertown, NY. She was also a rental agent in Florida and Syracuse, NY.
Family gatherings, BBQ's and spending time with family and friends was what she enjoyed most. Sewing, crafting, drawing, feeding the squirrels and chipmunks was also a favorite past time.
Survivors include four children; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Debra Markanich, Grottoes, VA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Alice and Ron Albro, Theresa, NY, Helen and Jeff Helmer, Clayton, NY, Lynda Briggs and companion, James Putnam, LaFargeville, NY; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Pomerville, Watertown, NY; several half brothers and sisters in Canada and Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, a son, John Markanich, a companion of 35 years, Allen "Berl" Scee and two brothers, Bill Collette and Rod Collette all passed away previously.
There will be no calling hours or funeral. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY.
