Obituary of Gary Leddy
Gary R. Leddy, 68, of Holkins Rd., died Monday March 19, 2018 at home.
Born on June 23, 1949 in Watertown, NY, he was a son of James R. and Helen B. Souva Leddy. He graduated from Indian River Central School in 1966.
He entered the US Navy in 1967, serving in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970.
Gary married Judith A. Lyndacker on December 5, 1975 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lowville, NY. She died on June 5, 1993.
He was a longtime engineer at Northland Electric, Watertown, NY, and retired in 2010 when the plant closed.
Gary was an active member, representative of the executive committee and Past Commander of the Philadelphia American Legion Post No. 798. He was also an altar boy at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a member Tom Sawyer's Boys Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, James and Helen Leddy, Philadelphia, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Brenda Leddy, Philadelphia, NY; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Shannon and Scott Shaw, Croghan, NY and Tamera and Jason Hicks, Antwerp, NY; six grandchildren, Joseph Davis, India Leddy, Seth Shaw, Shaun Shaw, Amiah Hicks and Chase Hicks; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Richard Pike, Phoenix, NY and Rosalie and David Wadsworth, Richfield Springs, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Sue Leddy, Philadelphia, NY; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 12:30 pm Friday, March 23, 2018 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY with Rev. Christopher Looby, officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Philadelphia American Legion immediately following services. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Antwerp, NY at a later date.
Calling hours will be 4-7 pm Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the funeral home.
