Obituary of David Jones

EVANS MILLS

David A. Jones, 65, answered his last alarm, Sunday morning, December 10, 2017 at Hospice of Jefferson County at Ellis Farm, Watertown, NY.

Born on June 5, 1952 in Watertown, NY, he was a son of Alton and Arlene Wenk Jones and graduated from Indian River Central School in 1970.

David joined the New York Army National Guard, Fort Drum, NY in 1970, retiring in 1993 as an electronics technician with a rank of Sergeant First Class.

He was past member of Calcium, Northpole and Evans Mills Fire Department, serving for 35+ years as an EMT for various agencies and was a charter member since 1982 of Jefferson County Fire Investigators. As an active investigator he was known as Car 34.

David was a member of the Safety Team at Watkins Glen International Speedway. He enjoyed motorcycles and was a 2 year ride captain of the Patriot Guard Riders and the Gold Wing Riders Association, Syracuse, NY.

He married Lorraine Stillman on September 18, 2010 at the Watkins Glen Speedway. She died December 25, 2011.

Survivors include his mother, Arlene Jones, Evans Mills, NY; his father, Alton Jones, Philadelphia, NY; a step-daughter, Amber Wiltsie and husband Jamie of Carthage, NY; three grandchildren, Ryleigh, Wyatt and Colton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Doug Jones, Evans Mills, Rod and Debbie Jones, MA, Terry and Cherie Jones, Brownville; nieces and nephews; his beloved cat, Hannah.

Memorial Services will be 12 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Evans Mills Fire Department, 8615 LeRay Street, Evans Mills, NY, with Rev. Donald Briant and Rev. Chilton McPheeters, officiating. A celebration of life service will be after services, at the fire hall. Private burial will be in Evans Mills Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 10-12 pm prior to the service at the fire hall.
