Jay N. Crump, 61, formerly of Evans Mills died Sunday November 26, 2017 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY.
Born June 27, 1956 in Watertown, NY, he was raised in the Evans Mills area.
He graduated from Indian River Central School, Philadelphia in 1974.
In 1983 he married Evy Countryman of LaFargeville. The couple lived in Evans Mills until they moved to Clayton in 2014.
Mr. Crump worked at the John Bevins gas station in Evans Mills and worked out of his home as a radio and TV repairman for many years. He was a caregiver and worked in maintenance at the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center. In 1989 he became a corrections officer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department until retiring in 2007 due to ill health.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing paintball with his family.
Surviving besides his wife Evy are two sons and their wives, Lloyd and Lucia of Clayton and Jason and Darbi of Depauville; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Crump and Deanna Woodard, both of Evans Mills; three brothers, Jim Crump, Watertown, Pat Crump, Evans Mills and Jerry Pernice, Theresa.
Besides his parents, a sister, Donna Lennox died before him.
The funeral will be 11 am Thursday November 30, 2017 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa with Pastor Rachael Roberts of the Chaumont Presbyterian Church officiating.
Calling hours are 10 to 11 am Thursday prior to the funeral.
