Irene F. Mathous, 86, formerly of Kamargo Apartments, died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, NY.
Born on February 2, 1931 in Malone, NY, she was a daughter of the late Armand L and Lula M. LaPage LaVoie. She was a 1949 graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy, Watertown, NY.
She married the love of her life, Darrell Robert Mathous of Antwerp, NY, on August 17, 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Antwerp, NY. Mrs. Mathous was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
Mr. Mathous was a dedicated husband, father, and dairy farmer. He died on June 9, 2012.
Mrs. Mathous enjoyed raising her seven sons and four daughters, watching movies and doing puzzles.
Survivors include four daughters, Lu Ann Cousins and husband Chris, Sackets Harbor, NY, Sharon E. Getman, Watertown, NY, Mary B. Mathous and companion, Jeffrey Kloos, Felts Mills, NY, Lori J. Mathous and companion, Thomas Birchenough, Watertown, NY; seven sons, Larry P. Mathous and wife Patricia, Saugerties, NY, Kenneth R. Mathous and wife Nellie, Watertown, NY, David P. Mathous, Robert J. Mathous, both of Watertown, NY, Gerald F. Mathous and companion Beverly Beardmore, Copenhagen, NY, Kevin G. Mathous and wife Amy, Watertown, NY, and Richard D. Mathous, Wilmington, NC; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, her brother Kenneth LaVoie and her sister Norma Cook died before her.
Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Watertown, NY will be private. There will be no other services.
