Obituary of Hazel Z. Stine

REDWOOD Hazel Z. Stine, 84, County Route 192 died Monday, January 23, 2012 at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay. Born September 10, 1927 in Alexandria Bay, she was the daughter of Louis V. and Geneva B. Smith Zimmer. She was valedictorian of the class of 1944 at Alexandria Central School and wrote the school alma mater. She also had attended Jefferson Community College from 1982 - 1983. She married Douglas Stine on September 10, 1946 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Redwood. The couple owned and operated Windswept Farms in Plessis until their retirement in 1986. She continued to help on the farm until 1992. Mrs. Stine was a member of American Mensa, Farm Bureau and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving besides her husband of 65 years are two sons and their wives, John and Susan, Redwood and Jim and Mary, Plessis; three daughters and their husbands, Jill and Lon Leech, Fort Wayne, In, Patricia and Mark Cole, Batavia and Chrisanne and Theodore Reifke, Oswego; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews. A daughter, Sheryl Williams and a sister, Mary Denny died before her. The funeral will be 12 pm Saturday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa with Rev. Edgar A. Hunter, Sr. officiating. Burial at Redwood Cemetery will be in the spring. Calling hours are 10 to 12 pm Saturday prior to the funeral. Donations may be made to River Hospital Foundation, P.O.
