Obituary of William L. Manning

THERESA William L. Manning, 76,of Silver Street Road died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Born April 17, 1935 in Theresa, he was the son of Lawrence and Edith A. Shepherd Manning and attended Theresa High School. A marriage to Nancy Collins ended in divorce, He married Nancy Bartlett on December 17, 1988 at the Redwood United Methodist Church. The couple lived in Redwood until moving to Theresa in 2001. Mr. Manning was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator and was employed with S & S Salvage, Pamelia, Thompson Farms, LaFargeville, Flicks, LaFargeville, Clements, Watertown, TI Ready Mix, LaFargeville and Williamson Trucking, Watertown. He was an avid racing fan, both local and NASCAR, enjoyed watching birds, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife, Nancy are three sons and a two daughters-in-law, Brett and Sonja, RI, Jeff, Hammond and Lawrence, Avon; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandy and Larry Garceau, Theresa, BJ Demarco and her companion, Randy Bowman, Watertown and Lynda and Terry DeYoung, Longview, TX; a step son, Larry Ellis, Jr., Barnwell, SC; a stepdaughter, Roxanne Witt, Brooksville, FL; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, including granddaughter, Sarah Ellis who was raised by her grandparents. Two daughters, Debbie Manning and Kim Manning, two sisters, Mary Tibbles and Marjorie Knight and three brothers, Ken, Don and Buster died before him. The funeral will be 11 am Thursday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa. Burial services will be 3 pm Friday, April 13, 2012 at Redwood Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home in Theresa. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, P.O. Box 677, Watertown, NY, 13601.
