Shirley A. Hunter, 80, formerly of the Redwood-Plessis area, died Tuesday morning, January 9, 2018 at Summit Village, Watertown, NY, where she has resided since 2013.
Born on January 16, 1937 in Theresa, NY, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and May Schneider Hunter. She attended Plessis and Alexandria Bay schools, graduating from Alexandria Bay High School in 1955 and furthered her education, studying bookkeeping and received a degree from Central City Business Institute, Syracuse, NY.
Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for Engeser Electric and the Watertown Daily Times, both of Watertown, NY and returned to the Plessis area, living on the family farm.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Suzanne Hunter, Plessis, NY; a sister, Kay Cozzi, Grosse Isle, MI; five nephews, John Cozzi and his wife Karin, Grosse Isle, MI, Christopher Cozzi and his wife Sara, Olathe, KS, Michael Hunter and his wife Kristie, Redwood, NY, Todd Hunter and his companion, Laura Moss, Augusta, GA, EJ Hunter and his wife Brianna, Saranac Lake, NY; two nieces, Ann Marie Hyde and her husband, Christopher, Alexandria Bay, NY, Megan Klosner and her husband, Conrad, Clayton, NY; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Her parents and a nephew, Mark Cozzi all died previously.
Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Plessis, NY on the family plot, later in the spring.
