Obituary of Floyd Knight

REDWOOD

Floyd E. Knight, 75, of Fourth Street, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY.

Born August 8, 1942 on the family farm in Macomb, NY, he was a son of Harold and Frances Rogers Knight. He attended schools in Redwood and Theresa.

A marriage to Linda L. Loomis in 1962, ended in divorce. His second marriage was in 1975 to Marjorie E. Manning, she passed away June 6, 2010.

Floyd worked for Tibble Construction, Redwood, NY as a young man, the New York AirBrake, Watertown, NY for a time, Newberry Construction, Alexandria Bay, NY, Garlock and Sons Construction, Alexandria Bay, NY for twenty plus years. Most recently he was a mechanic for Emerald Greens, Gouverneur, NY.

He was a member of the Redwood Volunteer Fire Dept., Redwood, NY.

Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at Malone's App Inn and Parker's Motel.

Survivors include four children, daughter and son-in-law, Selinda L. and Fran Bogenschutz, Clearwater, FL, daughter and son-in-law, Mary J. and John I. Cunningham, Gouverneur, NY, daughter and companion, Annette F. Knight and Jim Sherron, Redwood, NY, son and daughter-in-law, Floyd A. and Lisa Knight, Theresa, NY; two step-daughters, April Williams and Tina Smith, both of Dexter, NY; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Muriel Davis, Redwood, NY; a brother, Alger Knight and his companion, Betty VanTassel and their son, Gus, all of Redwood, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents, his wife Marjorie, a son Duane Knight, a brother George Knight, two sisters, Marion Berard and Barbara Martin all died before him.

Funeral Services will be 6 pm Friday September 15, 2017 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY, with United Methodist Minister, Rev. Frederica Webb, officiating. There will be a gathering at JK's Tavern, Redwood, NY, immediately following services.

Burial will be in Redwood Cemetery, Redwood, NY, at a later date.

Calling hours will be 4-6 pm prior to the service.
