Reed S. Crowner, 71, of Co. Rt. 6, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, NY.
Born on March 23, 1946 in Carthage, NY, he was a son of Spencer and Margaret Reed Crowner. He attended Carthage High School and later obtained an Associate Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Canton.
Reed married Linda Amyot Gates.
He was a truck driver most of his life, driving for various companies, Reed Trucking, Carthage, NY, ACCO, Ogdensburg, NY, Smith Transport, Wellesley Island, NY and he was owner of Reed Crowner Trucking, Hammond, NY for ten years. Most recently he was a tutor for accounting students at SUNY Canton.
Reed was a member of the Thousand Island Blue Grass Preservation Society, LaFargeville, NY and the First Congregational Church of Morristown.
Music brought great enjoyment to Reed. He started playing with a band at the age of 12 and continued playing with the George Walters Band, Blue Suede Shoes Band, Reed & Linda Crowner Band, Steve & Dawn Walker's Backroad Blue Grass Band and many others.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two sons, twins, Michael and Marcus Crowner; two step-sons, Jesse Gates and Joshua Gates; four daughters, Shirley, Jamie, Nichole and Brandie; numerous grandchildren.
His parents and four sisters all died before him.
Memorial Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the First Congregational Church of Morristown, 541 Sand Street Rd., Hammond, NY 13646, with Pastor David Sheppard, officiating. Burial will be in Barnes Settlement Cemetery at a later date.
